Production Timing & Process For Spotlight On

3 months from script to screen

“How long does it take? How much does it cost?”

The entire one time production cost is $33,000 - which includes everything.  One day’s filming anywhere in the United States, script writing, photography, editing, voice-over, music rights for PBS distribution, everything,

  1. Once we receive the contract and underwriting, the production process kicks off.  We initiate a pre-scripting conference call with your key team and our Senior producer.  This is where you share your thoughts and key message points. Imagine having 5 or 6 million people remember you for a quick 10 seconds – what would you want them to think about?  Taking into account your preferences (and even what you don't want), we begin crafting the script.  At this stage, your job is done.

2. Within 2-3 weeks, we present the script to you in an engaging oral format.
We bring the show to life by describing visuals, sound effects, and voice-overs, taking you on a journey of imagination.
Rest assured, we want you to envision the completed program clearly.

Usually, underwriters are pleased, but some changes may be required from your perspective.
That's perfectly fine because it's your show, and we understand that you'll be using it for other purposes too.
However, the program should adhere to Public Television Standards and Guidelines. We rely on you to ensure the accuracy and correctness of the information.

3. Once the script is approved, we schedule the filming day. We travel anywhere in the continental USA, dedicating one day to capture all the necessary footage – interviews, background shots, and more. If you have any B-roll, we can incorporate that too, broadening the scope of what's shown.

5. When all the changes are made, the program is included in the next Satellite uplink for national distribution. This usually happens each quarter. Additionally, we provide you with compressed versions of your program in various internet-ready formats for your specific applications.

4. After filming, the editing and post-production process begins. Voice-overs, music, sound effects – all the elements of a show are meticulously put together. Usually, within two weeks of filming, the final show is completed and uploaded to a test site for everyone to view. We welcome your input and make any necessary changes in visuals until the program is approved by your organization.

6. Finally, around 45-60 days after the first quarter airing, you will receive information about the National Station's broadcast schedule. We hope this gives you a clear picture of the process.
